The Nunatak is being spearheaded by Bennett Slavsky as editor-in-chief and Mathias Gruber as visual arts director. After years of writing and taking photographs for outdoor publications, we felt it was time to start our own.

We have been climbing, skiing, surfing, kayaking, playing music, and rambling about the globe for quite a while. These pursuits have taken us to remarkable places and introduced us to even more remarkable people—around every corner there is a story to tell. 

While we feel that there is still a place for mainstream media outlets, we also feel that there is a dire lack of authentic storytelling in the outdoor realm, especially now that print publications have become obsolete. With The Nunatak, we hope to create a world for these colorful, unapologetic places and people to exist.
